After spotting the Good Cop, Bad Cop blogathon, I originally had thought of examining Gene Hunt, aka the Manch. No, I’m not talking Twins (1998) which bizarrely also has this formula in the form of Danny DeVito and Kelly Preston.īut today I’m telling you about my thoughts on a Schwarzenegger romantic-action-comedy, Kindergarten Cop (1990) with Linda Hunt and the always lovely Penelope Ann Miller. That is – unless I’m alone in this thinking – until you mention this Schwarzenegger heartwarming comedy, with a diminutive co-star and a pretty blonde love interest. They’ll agree wholeheartedly that yes, Schwarzenegger is good at delivering those puns in his action movies, but 100% comedy is not Schwarzenegger’s bag. As they remember the delights of Jingle All the Way (1996) and Junior (1994). Usually, the mere mention of Schwarzenegger and certain comedy films and some movie critics hang their heads in despair. Andrew Dimarco as Zach Sullivan: A shy student in the class and the first one who Kimble suspects is Crisp's son, though he later learns that his mother is still married to his father and they are dealing with domestic violence.Christian and Joseph Cousins as Dominic Palmieri / Cullen Crisp, Jr.: Joyce and Crisp's son who becomes close to Kimble.Carroll Baker as Eleanor Crisp: Crisp's overbearing mother.Richard Tyson as Cullen Crisp, Sr.: A vicious drug dealer who is searching for Joyce and especially Dominic, respectively his ex-wife and son.Though initially suspicious of Kimble, she eventually grows to respect him when he assaults Zach's universally-disliked abusive father. Linda Hunt as Miss Schlowski: The school's strict principal.She briefly poses as Kimble's sister, "Ursula Kimble". Pamela Reed as Detective Phoebe O'Hara: Kimble's partner who gets food poisoning, forcing him to cover for her on the assignment.Penelope Ann Miller as Joyce Palmieri / Rachel Myatt Crisp: A teacher whom Kimble falls for but who is also Crisp's ex-wife.Arnold Schwarzenegger as Detective John Kimble: A tough Austrian street cop who's forced to take an undercover assignment as a Kindergarten teacher.
